Sometimes back, we used to allow Email attachment for Free and had two options of sending attachments. But in our learning curve we came across various learnings which we will explain below which prompted us to make the charge applicable for sending Attachment in emails. (Even other reputed Bulk email service providers don't allow attachments).

Following are the reasons for implementing charge on Email Attachment

  1. Affecting our email delivery speeds.

Email Attachments increase the size of the email campaign, and as the email is transported using internet bandwidth the larger the size the slower is the delivery of the email and thus affecting all our users due to decreasing speed of delivery.

  1. Increase in our database transfer cost.

If we take an example of say attachment size of 2 MB and a client is sending emails to 1 lakh subscribers, then the total data transfer is 2x1,00,000 = 2 Lakh MB or approx. 195 GB of data transfer. This has a high impact on our cost of data transfer and also database storage on our servers.

  1. Negative Impact on our mail server reputations.

Sending an email attachment has a high probability of getting filtered into spam and increase in such cases increases the risk of our servers, ip's and domain being blacklisted. This again has an impact on our business operations.

  1. Impact on User experience of our service.

Due to various implications involved in Sending email attachments, this affects impacts our users experience.

Thus, due to above explained implication we recommend using “Send as Link” option instead of email attachment. And we have still kept the option of “Send as Attachment” in case user still want to avail that facility but at an additional charge.
